Freediving and Spearfishing Dive Sites in Cape Town

Most of the dive sites shown here are shore-based. That means rocky entries, kelp forests and changing conditions. These are not tropical drift dives. They reward patience, awareness and good planning.

Some sites are best suited to:

• Beginner freediving and snorkelling

• Kelp forest exploration

• Depth training and breath-hold sessions

• Shore-based spearfishing

Others are only used when conditions line up properly. Swell direction, wave period and wind all play a role. A site that looks calm one day can be undiveable the next.
